  天津医科大学（Tianjin Medical University）简称“TMU”，为天津市人民政府、国家卫生健康委员会和教育部共建高校，是国家“211工程”重点建设院校、“双一流”世界一流学科建设高校、国家建设高水平大学公派研究生项目高校、教育部来华留学示范基地建设高校、中国政府奖学金来华留学生接收院校、卓越医生教育培养计划试点高校、新工科研究与实践项目实施高校。[1]天津医科大学前身天津医学院建于1951年。1984年6月，以天津医学专科学校为基础建立天津第二医学院。1993年，天津市市委、市政府决定天津医学院与天津第二医学院合并组建天津医科大学，同年12月得到国家教委批准。1996年，学校进入国家“211工程”重点建设高校行列。2017年9月，学校入围首批国家“双一流”世界一流学科建设高校名单。

[1] The predecessor of Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin Medical College, was founded in 1951. In June 1984, Tianjin Second Medical College was established on the basis of Tianjin Medical College. In 1993, Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Tianjin Municipal Government decided to merge Tianjin Medical College with Tianjin Second Medical College to form Tianjin Medical University, which was approved by the State Education Commission in December of the same year. In 1996, the university was listed in the national "Project 211". In September 2017, the university was listed in the first batch of national "Double First-Class" universities with world-class discipline construction.
